After years of going by the working title Project 007, IO Interactive's next James Bond game now has an official name. The Hitman developer's next game, 007 First Light, will be revealed in full later this week. The company has also set its own June 6 expo, when it will introduce the James Bond game as well as additional information on the upcoming action-adventure titles MindsEye, Hitman, and more.
007 First Light Set for Reveal This Week
On X Monday, the Danish developer unveiled the game's official title in a message, encouraging players to "earn the number". The 007 First Light official website adds a bit additional information, indicating an origin tale in which players must gain the 00 rank as James Bond.
"007 First Light is a brand new James Bond video game developed and published by IO Interactive," the website says. "Featuring a wholly original Bond origin story, players will step into the shoes of the world's favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status."

Following the update, IO Interactive announced the first-ever IOI Showcase, during which the company would unveil the 007 First Light and provide updates on MindsEye and Hitman: World of Assassinations.

In October 2024, IO Interactive CEO and co-owner Hakan Abrak stated that production on the James Bond game was going "amazingly well" and that the firm will soon provide additional information. Abrak stated at the time that Project 007 — now 007 First Light — would be a wholly original plot with a new James Bond who would not use the likeness of any actor who had previously played the renowned secret agent in Bond flicks. The executive also stated that he believed the game will be the start of a new trilogy.
007 First Light will most likely have a reveal trailer during the IOI Showcase on June 6. The developer may also provide an update on the game's timeframe. The James Bond game has been in development for a time. It was initially announced in 2020 for modern platforms, meaning it will most likely be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
